needs editing

This book must have been rushed out to publication without editing. There are graphical errors and factual errors. Needs an update.

Don't waste your money

Am studying for the re-certification exam. Have been practicing for 20+ years.

Firstly, the questions at the back of the book are worthless Your yellow hot liner will do the same thing as the questions.
There is no real thought to the questions and they are not at the level that you will see on the exam.

Secondly, the book is full of mistakes. Both the in the questions and on the printed pages.

Thirdly, it is a VERY BASIC book. Again, there is not enough depth to use it to pass the exam. For example, the section on antidepressants. Wikipedia covers the topic more thoroughly and is laid out much better. Or look what he has to say about narcotics. Nothing about the degradation pathways or the the fact that certain narcotics break down into other ones and can lead to a false positive on a drug screen. These are the types of questions typically seen on the exam.

Save your money. There are better books out there.

Review? More like a Preview

I purchased this book prior to starting my pain management fellowship. It is good for a quick overview, a brief description to bring me up to speed on an unfamiliar topic. However, this book, despite its title, is not appropriate in its content to be an ABA-Pain board review book. It has some nice pictures and descriptions of nerve blocks; its content for the board-relevant information we need to know regarding advanced pain procedures is lacking. This book does little to address general management, medication management, patient evaluation, and complications.... all the things that make up a multiple-choice test question. Caution, there are 700 review questions, but no explanations on the correct answers, so if you are looking for an exam/board review book, look elseware. So, I would recommend this book for the anesthesiology or PM&R resident or would-be pain fellow as a preview book with some practical information, but not a board review book.

ACE is one of the best nationally recognized organizations. The manual was very helpful when I was studying for my personal trainer certification. I would not have passed the test without it. ACE is widely recognized and it often the preferred certification for many employers.

This guide is excellent and has some very goo information if you are going to become a personal trainer. I'm using this book for my personal trainer class in college and couldn't be more satisfied with the book. Also the book for the most part was in excellent shape which makes me even more happy with the purchase.

About the Author
Mike Leeder is Professor Emeritus at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England. A geologist by training, at the University of Durham, he has researched and taught sedimentology since 1969, beginning as a graduate student at the Sedimentological Research Laboratory, University of Reading under the legendary Perce Allen and as faculty member at the Universities of Leeds and East Anglia. He is particularly interested in sedimentological fluid dynamics, basin analysis and the links between sedimentary processes and climate change.

Sedimentary geology as an integrated discipline...

I think Leeder's textbook will appeal to anyone who's striving to learn more about sedimentology and dynamic stratigraphy. It's a concise, yet thorough introduction to many topics selected within the vast, ever-expanding (and worryingly so! ) field of sedimentary geology... The author's main goal was probably to provide readers with a clear sense of how well integrated sedimentary geology now is with many other branches of earth and life sciences, physics and chemistry. And in my opinion that aim is succesfully achieved. The book will be suitable read to all those who have already taken an introductory, comprehensive course in sedimentology, on the look for something else to be inspired in their reflections. Reading through many of the chapters, newcomers will learn how sedimentology gained many precious contributions from other sciences, as well as just how much of a contribution the discipline itself can be to the whole bandwagon of geology. It takes a holistic approach to Earth system science to highlight this, and the book hits this mark real well...
I appreciated particularly a brief, separate chapter dealing with the properties and stuctures of fine, cohesive sediments, which is a refreshing perspective on the physical and dynamical sedimentology of muds... And a longer one introducing sediment sources as resulting from the interaction of tectonics and erosional processes. What left me rather disappointed was a too cursory mention of base-level control on sedimentary successions, and its logical development into sequence stratigraphy, not as a preconceived model but as a new philosophy in tackling with the complexity of the stratigraphical record. But something had to be probably neglected or the tome would have become real cumbersome to handle physically! Also, I wonder whether Coriolis force really bears any influence upon such small-scale systems as lakes...? But this is an aside... All in all, the book is enjoyable and informative, the author's style pleasant and clear, the artwork excellent, and if you wanted to try out something alternative for mumbling on the hidden meanings of sands, muds and other slimy stuff we like so much, having a go at this book would be very much worth the price...

Prior to the middle of the fourth century, the exegesis of St. Paul had been monopolized by Greek and Syriac commentators. Then, in the space of half a century (c. 360 - c. 409), there appeared no less than 52 commentaries by six different Latin authors. This sudden flurry of literary activity has been dubbed the western "Renaissance of Paul." Jerome's commentaries on four Pauline epistles (Galatians, Ephesians, Titus, Philemon), which he composed in 386 shortly after establishing himself in Bethlehem, occupy a central place in this relatively short but prolific segment of the history of Pauline exegesis in Latin.

Jerome was the greatest biblical scholar of the ancient Latin church, and his Commentary on Galatians is one of the crowning achievements of his illustrious career. It far outclasses the five other contemporary Latin commentaries on Galatians in its breadth of classical and patristic erudition, Hebrew and Greek textual criticism of the Bible, and expository thoroughness. It is unique also because it is the only one of the Latin commentaries to make the Greek exegetical tradition its main point of reference. Jerome's Commentary in fact preserves, in one form or another, a treasure-trove of otherwise lost Greek exegesis, particularly Origen's Commentary on Galatians, from which he worked very closely when composing his own work.

Jerome's Commentary on Galatians is presented here in English translation in its entirety. The introduction and notes situate the Commentary in its historical, exegetical, and theological contexts and also provide extensive coverage of ancient and modern scholarly debates about the interpretation of Paul's epistle.

Memory House #2 - gentle; beautiful!

Memory House B&B was a happy home; Ophelia Browne was ninety years of age and had known a lifetime of happiness and memories in her home. It was where she and Edward had made their married life; wonderful, happy memories and Ophelia felt when she was lying in bed in the loft looking at Edward’s beloved stars that he was close to her still. When Annie had come into Ophelia’s life only one year ago, everything had fallen into place. It was as though Annie was meant to be at Memory House; meant to be in Ophelia’s life…

Annie couldn’t believe how happy she finally was. She was marrying Oliver; the man of her dreams. Meeting Oliver after meeting Ophelia was like a dream come true. And now they would be together forever, making their own memories. Oliver’s daddy, Ethan Allan had been the link; and the old bicycle had brought them all together.

The suddenness of change affected them all though. When Annie and Oliver rushed back to attend to Ophelia, they didn’t realize that change was quietly occurring in their lives. And a few weeks later the shock of an unexpected visit meant Annie needed to dig deeper than she ever had before; would her strength and the abiding love she had for Oliver save his life? As Annie searched her heart for a meaningful memory to impart, her positive nature plus her love and determination kept her going; but was it enough?

I absolutely adored The Loft by Bette Lee Crosby! The second in the Memory House series, it is a beautiful, gentle story of love; of mystery and of the magic of memories. Catching up with a cast of characters from Memory House was wonderful – meeting new and interesting characters was fun. I can’t wait for book 3 in the series! Bette Lee Crosby is one of my favourite authors, and her books are a treat. I highly recommend all of this author’s work.

Absolutely love this story!

I love everything Bette writes and The Loft is another one of her stories that I just fell in love with. She writes such beautiful prose with amazing and very likable characters. I want to enter the worlds she creates and never leave.

The following is the first line from the book and I just absolutely love the thought of this idea.

'They say that somewhere far beyond what mortals see there is a scale of life, and for each moment of happiness a stone of sorrow is dropped onto the scale.'

The Loft takes us back to Ophelia and Annie, who we first met in The Memory House. Annie is getting married and moving on with her life. These two women have formed such a strong and loving relationship. And they share the love of Memory House. Ophelia comes to a point where she feels she should leave the house and let those younger than herself experience the love she has found there and to make their own memories. But can she leave the memory of her true love, Edward?

'I don’t live here in this house. I’m alive inside your heart. I’ll go wherever you go.'

Bette's books are always filled with such sweet stories, all laced with a little magic. And so much wisdom. I love marking so many of the great passages she writes, they are words to treasure. And reading her books is always such a treat because she intertwines her characters from other books and it is always so wonderful to visit them again.

'Memories are a big comfort, but there are times when you just need a live friend to talk and laugh with.'

One last bit of Bette's wisdom. Read the rest of the book to experience this wonderful journey to the Memory House.

Tragedy happens in all familes

For anyone that knows me and my love of books and authors, they will be well aware that Bette Lee Crosby is one of my favorite authors who I can't wait to start writing her next book. Her books are so life like and so real. Her characters are so well rounded you never forget them.

This is book 2 in the series. I can honestly tell you that I didn't have to go over book 1 to remind myself of what I had read months ago as her books are so memorable.

The Memory House Collection

Its an apt name, its a house that people always have to, need to, or must return to for one reason or another.

Ophelia is the old lady now. She is the one that helped Annie in many different ways.

I have also learnt things from these books, or should I say, from Ophelia herself.

We all have objects that we hold affection for. Her explanation of how we look at these objects of affection was very thought provoking to me. I didn't think of things this way.

Am I going to explain that to you? Nope. When you come to read this book, remember my words, and you will pick up my understanding for sure.

She is a very wise woman Ophelia. They say wisdom comes in years, and this is true, but for me, Ophelia always had wisdom and a good way at looking and helping others, especially Annie.

The book starts off with Annie's wedding. But life doesn't always go to plan does it, we see this as we turn the pages.

Bette Lee Crosby has a gifted way with words and brings out thoughtful things. Each character that is from book 1 has developed even more, they have grown, but they still remain true to themselves.

Tragedy is a part of most people's lives in one sense or another, and this family is not without theirs.

This author brings warmth to her pages, this authors brings hope, this author brings sense to life.

I have currently read book 3 in this series as a Beta read, and let me tell you, it just gets better and better
