Amazing Flow

Before I get into my review I wanted to talk about the title for a minute because it's a bit confusing. There seem to be two titles for this book that you'll find on Goodreads. I'm not totally for sure which one is the correct version but I'm leaning towards Ex-Billionaire Escort. There are also two completely different covers ... I'll just put the links at the bottom of my review so it is easy to find, no matter the name or cover.

I couldn't put this one down. I had so much stuff to do yesterday, yet if I had a free minute, I had this book in my hands. I found myself totally immersed into the world of Lowell and Kyle and I absolutely adored every single second of it. I don't say that very often about any book. I'm usually pretty hard on them because I've just read so many. But this one was a bit different for me ... it's about a step-brother and step-sister romance. Not something I've ever read before and that's because at first, I had a stomach turning reaction to the whole idea. I mean, they aren't blood related but they are technically brother and sister and that is taboo. Well ... ex-stepbrother and ex-stepsister ... anyhow. I'm glad that I took a giant leap out of my comfort zone because I've found another author that I really enjoy reading.

Leigh James kept me totally hooked from the very first page of this book. I loved how she set up the characters, I loved experiencing that transformation between and within each one. Actually, that may be my favorite part ... watching characters evolve into something different ... better or worse, I don't really care ... it's just something magical to read and I'm hoping that her other books are like this as well with regards to that because if so, I'll be delving into each and every single one of them.

Like I said, the basis of the story was something that I hadn't experienced before ... actually, I don't think I've read a book about an escort before either. I really enjoyed how the author kept this book moving along so quickly. The flow was awesome, there weren't any slow or sluggy (yes, I know that sluggy isn't a word but it should be) parts and I didn't find anything in this book that was just useless information or a waste of space.

I'll definitely read something else by this author some day. This was a good book and it has not received the ratings that I think it should have but it is what it is, I guess. You should give this a shot if you enjoy reading about stubborn but ruggedly handsome men who sometimes make poor choices and especially if you enjoy reading about a young woman who doesn't give up and stands up for herself.

One flub to cover another

As part of the Ex-Billionaire Escort book tour, I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am very picky when it comes to romance novels because I don’t like how female characters are portrayed. I decided to give this one a try because the story concept sounded great.

Lowell an actress, originally from Texas is on the fast track of making it big in Hollywood. Looming in the background is the stereotypical issues plaguing Hollywood females, and Lo is not immune. After having one too many drinks one night, she gets herself into a pickle when the car she was in gets pulled over by a cop. If course being up and coming in Hollywood means that at anytime someone with a cell phone is waiting to capture your most embarrassing moment, which is exactly what happens to Lo.

Lo tries to take the spotlight off of her latest public flub by creating a fake relationship with a male escort. Not the brightest idea, especially when said escort is her ex-billionaire stepbrother. Her publicist and the people in her camp sees nothing wrong with this. Pretty much what you think will happen does. Think Pretty Woman in reverse if Julia Roberts character tortured Richard Gere’s character when they were teenagers.

Readers are reminded over and over about the same incidents that happened between them as kids. Fast forward to their adulthood, I felt that there were several instances where a lot of the events in the book was repeated and the same incidents were told the same way by different characters.

Overall there were no spelling errors and some of the dialogue was funny.

She makes poor decisions, and has to use slight of hand to draw the paparazzi' attention away and to something else. Especially if she wants to keep acting in the movie she's currently working on. That something else? A new hot, boy candy, boyfriend. She doesn't have one, so she calls an escort service.

Kyle is her ex stepbrother and after being cut off from his trust fund by his rich father, is now a high end escort...
See where this is going? You would be right, with a twist.

This was one hot book!

This is the best keyboard chord book I've found in my 25 years of teaching. Although this title has progressive young beginners, don't be put off by that. It also contains very difficult chord combinations, like ninth, thirteenth, Major added ninth. It explains the combinations and why some notes are added, some omitted. It has a section on music theory then chord progressions. I'd give it more than 5 stars if possible:-) Jean Ann

Informed and approachable hospitality textbook

I don't know about everyone else, but I have to be honest, I've never really been the type who loved sitting down to read a textbook. This particular text has been a great read for me. It can be dense at times, but if you are really wanting to get into the industry, you WILL learn what you need to know through this book and might accidentally enjoy it!

Very poorly put together. The editing is terrible, they missed a lot of errors. The writing is rambling and not entirely relevant. Key words are highlighted in bold, however they don't always get a distinct definition or really any context. Very difficult to use as a study guide for my course, I recommended my College select a different text for this course. (by the way, my grade was an A, but this book made it more difficult)

A good exposition with considerable errata

I want to like this book and recommend it for a semester-long introduction to analysis. The exposition is good, but the other reviewer wasn't exaggerating about the errata. I'll start by elaborating on the positives, though. The authors forego depth of exposition in favor of taking time to help the reader develop intuition. Many proofs are prefaced by an equally long "Strategy" section that explains how one might go about constructing such a proof, which I think is great for an introductory text. The material presented should be at least as rewarding as less descriptive volumes are for students that take time to read the chapters beyond finding their assigned problem sets. Those that do will be well-equipped for a more advanced treatment of analysis.

It seems like the errors appear more often in definitions, statements of results, and exercises. If this were aimed at a more advanced audience, one might expect the reader to catch such errors more quickly. To give an example of what I consider a relatively minor error in the book, the authors characterize the density of the rational numbers in the real rile as, "Given a,b in R with a < b, there exists r in Q such that a < x < b." This is easy enough to catch and properly revise, but the errata becomes more subtle and confusing as the exposition grows more complex. Unfortunately, great exposition can't entirely make up for being consistently imprecise at the times when rigor is most necessary. I wouldn't recommend the text (in its present form) to anyone new to the subject, and I would recommend getting another text for reference to any student required to use this in their class.

Take heed of the text's "basic course" subtitle. Do not expect deep or varied coverage of integration. Its treatment is restricted to a chapter titled Riemannian Integration, with the following sections:
Darboux Integrability, Properties of the Integral, Fundamental Teorems of Calculus, Mean Value Theorems for Integrals, Integral Form of the Remainder, Riemann's Original Definition, Sum of an Infinite Series as an Integral, Logarithmic and Exponential Functions, and Improper Riemann Integrals.

That said, I very much enjoyed reading the book, and I would happily purchase a (better edited) second edition.

Errant, sloppy, not informative, not helpful

This book is riddled with mistakes. We had a boatload of cases where it would define a problem with one set of variables, then suddenly start using others, until after three changes it is extremely hard to keep up with. It is a first edition, but it makes me wonder if anybody even proofread it.
